No wonder this beauty has won a few awards; it is often described as the most beautiful of all Begonias! Ideal as a houseplant, in a pot on the patio, in a hanging basket or planted outdoors in warmer, sheltered parts of New Zealand, it will stand out anywhere. It is a rounded hybrid and staked, can grow to 3-4 feet, with huge mid-green leaves speckled with large silver dots and a thin silver edge on each leaf margin. The hanging, clustered flowers are a bright pink.

Indoors, the Flamingo Queen prefers bright, indirect light, a temperature range of 12-28C, 40-60% humidity and should be watered when the first 2 inches is dry to the touch. Feed with a water-based soluble acidic release fertiliser. Outdoors, it will do best in a light shade/part-sun situation with a peat based compost. Young plants can do with extra phosphorous to encourage good root development.
